The Envirothon is a hands‑on natural resource education program where middle and high school teams (3–5 students) compete in an interactive, problem‑solving event. Students are tested in five subject areas:

  • Aquatic Ecology
  • Current Environmental Issues
  • Forestry
  • Soils and Land Use
  • Wildlife

Teams work collaboratively to build their knowledge of ecology, conservation, and natural resource management while practicing real‑world environmental problem‑solving skills.

The Person SWCD sponsors local teams. Groups eligible to form a team include:

  • FFA Chapters
  • Environmental Clubs
  • Gril Scouts & Boy Scouts
  • 4-H Clubs
  • Homeschool groups
  • Any interested student group

If you are interested in competing or need help forming a team, please contact our office. You may also review this team tip guide provided by the NC Envirothon.
