Person Industries is a community rehabilitation program, operated by Person County, that trains people with disabilities for jobs in the community. Employees receive on-the-job work experience through Person Industries’ onsite and community employment work groups. Person Industries operates the Person County Recycling Center, as well as employs people in work groups in several local industries through production, housekeeping and confidential shredding contracts.

Although Person Industries is one of many community rehabilitation programs, the program offers its own unique brand of service delivery from highly trained and qualified staff. Individualized service is the approach we take from the moment a person is referred to services through the assessment and training process, right through job selection and placement. The appropriate mix of consideration is given to the employee’s skills and job preference, enhancing job retention.

In operation since 1985, Person Industries has increased the number of people served, the programs offered, the production contract work and qualified staff trainers available.

Person Industries opened the Person County Recycling Center (PCRC) in June of 2009. PCRC is a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) that accepts comingled recyclables from Person County and surrounding counties. PCRC is the first MRF run by people with disabilities.
