Person County Residents may also be eligible for coverage under the 5310 Elderly Individuals and Individuals with Disabilities Program, which the Kerr Tar Regional Council of Government administers each fiscal year. This grant covers the full cost of transportation.
Placement into this program requires completion of an application and proof of age 65+ or disability. Proof of age must be verified with a copy of a state or federally approved ID (Driver's License, State-issued ID, or Passport). Proof of disability must be verified with any of the following items. These items must be attached to the application as proof.
- Statement or letters on a physician's/medical professional's letterhead.
- Statements, records, or letters from a Federal Government agency that issues or provides disability benefits.
- Statements, records, or letters from a State Vocational Rehabilitation Agency counselor.
- Certification from a private Vocational Rehabilitation or other counselor who issues or provides disability benefits.
